Let’s talk about the new menu items at Locus Lounge.

We know that people often have their tried-and-true favourites, and that sometimes, you’re a little afraid of trying something new. So to make it easy for you, we’re going to go over the new menu items, complete with photographs so that you can get an idea of what exactly the new menu items are all about.

APPETIZERS:

We’ve added two new appetizers to our arsenal: Gin & Ginger Prawns, and Roasted Cherry Tomato & Eggplant Bruschetta.

Gin & Ginger Prawns

Okay, so Gin & Ginger Prawns are pretty straightforward: they’re gin flambeed prawns with pickled ginger (like you get with sushi), green onions, and sesame wonton chips. The sesame wonton chips are wontons brushed with sesame oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds that have been fried to golden-brown.

Roasted Cherry Tomato & Eggplant Bruschetta

This is bruschetta Locus-style. While traditional bruschetta consists of a mix of basil, fresh tomato, garlic and onions and often mozzarella, our bruschetta mixes things up a bit with the addition of eggplant, roasted tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes, and feta cheese. Served on a bed of bright green pea shoots, this dish is as pleasing to look at as it is to eat.

SANDWICHES & PASTAS:

These are two new dishes that we just know you’re going to love:

Grilled Ahi Tuna Club

This sandwich incorporates the flavours of avocado, pancetta (an Italian dried, cured meat similar to bacon), and kalamata olive tapenade, which all together add up to a very unique (already popular) sandwich. As always, you can have the tuna any way you like it.

Homemade Potato Gnocchi

Potato Gnocchi, for those of you not in the know, are small dumplings made with potato and flour. Our homemade gnocchi are mixed together with caramelized onions, baby beets, roasted garlic, pea tendrils, goat’s cheese, and brown butter to make the rich and delicious dish that is our chef’s favourite. As a plus, it’s vegetarian friendly!

ENTREES:

Here’s another vegetarian dish we’ve recently added to the menu:

Risotto Cakes

Not too hard to understand: For this dish, we’ve taken risotto (rice that has been cooked in broth and sprinkled with grated cheese) and formed it into cakes. Our risotto cakes include mushrooms, sweet peas, roasted garlic and truffle oil, and they are served on top of smoked tomato coulis.

One more dish left…

Pan Roasted Pacific Ling Cod

Ling cod is a fish with a mild flavour and flaky, dense white flesh. As a bonus, it’s low in fat. Our ling cod is served in a lemon fennel crust, on top of a french lentil & apple ragout. It is cooked in a caper lemon brown butter, and topped with peashoots.

As always, we also have a constantly shifting range of desserts, all of which are delicious and unique. If you still have any questions, why not check out our website for more info?
